For the final writing assignment for Academicore, you will write the introduction for a research paper on the topic you have selected.  The research topic should be something you may actually end up researching for your eventual degree. We will start by writing a Research Question or a Thesis Statement.  Then, each of you will look for at least 5 references you could use to write the paper, and list them in a mini-bibliography, using the appropriate citation style. Finally, you will write a one-page introduction for the research paper, including the title, research question or thesis statement, the methodology of your research and a general introduction to the topic.

Online research - I want you to find at least five sources online for information about your topic.  

• One should be a book.  
• One should be a periodical (newspaper, magazine or journal) and
• One should be an electronic source (web page or database).

Each reference should be cited.  This means writing a citation according to the APA or MLA Formatting style.  Here are some links to help with the formatting:

Your finished Research Paper introduction should include;

I. A title page, formatted according to the editing style you choose, MLA or APA

(hint: Google "mla title page" or "apa title page" in regular or image search.) 

II. A one-page introduction to your paper, including:

• A research question or thesis statement
• A general background to the topic and why it interests you
• A brief mention of some of the previous research on the topic
• A description of what kind of analysis or research you did
• At least 3 footnotes
• At least one quotation

III. A bibliograpy

• A list of at least 5 sources you could actually use if you were writing a real paper
• Include at least on book, one journal article and one internet-only resource (not published on paper)
• Format according to the MLA or APA guidelines for bibliographies
